Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, has announced the launch of 'Vande Bharatam', a sweeping national movement designed to identify, mentor, and elevate emerging entrepreneurs, grassroots innovators, and problem-solvers across India. Unveiled to mark Adani’s 64th birthday, the initiative aims to build an inclusive national platform that connects visionary minds with the resources needed to scale their ideas into impactful enterprises.
While India currently boasts one of the world's largest startup ecosystems, opportunities remain heavily centralized. Statistics reveal that over 80 percent of startup founders still emerge from just five major metropolitan cities. Vande Bharatam seeks to democratize this landscape by extending its reach across all 36 states and union territories, bridging language barriers and spanning more than 800 districts—from tier-1 urban hubs to remote rural communities.
Reflecting on the personal conviction behind the movement, Gautam Adani emphasized his humble beginnings and the importance of creating accessible pathways for others. "When I began my journey, I had nothing. Everything I am and everything I have achieved was given to me by the soil of Bharat," Adani noted. He added that while the nation possesses immense untamed talent, opportunity has rarely reached every corner, emphasizing that "if I can do it, any Indian can do it—all they need is an opportunity and a stage."
To ensure maximum inclusivity, the platform is open to any individual with an innovative idea, prototype, early-stage venture, or established business. Applicants are welcomed regardless of their age, educational background, or current stage of venture development, and holding a formally registered startup is not a prerequisite to participate.
The initiative actively invites solutions across a wide array of fields, including deep tech, manufacturing, agriculture, sustainability, traditional crafts, and community-led developments. To foster equitable growth, dedicated evaluation tracks have been instituted specifically to support women entrepreneurs, rural innovators, tribal business leaders, and Divyang creators who are tackling localized challenges.
All incoming applications will undergo a structured evaluation process focused on innovation, scalability, and societal impact. Following regional and state-level screening rounds, 75 finalists will be selected to participate in an intensive, fully-supported residency in Ahmedabad. There, founders will gain direct access to industry leaders, expert mentors, incubation hubs, potential investors, and category-based financial awards.
The campaign will culminate in a Grand Finale scheduled around Independence Day, serving as the launchpad for an ongoing support network for participants. As India works toward its long-term vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, platforms like Vande Bharatam aim to ensure that decentralized innovation becomes a primary engine driving the nation's economic growth and job creation.
