Royal Enfield has officially scripted a new chapter in its storied history as customer deliveries of its debut electric motorcycle, the Flying Flea C6, have officially commenced in Bengaluru. Marking the legacy manufacturer's bold entry into the electric mobility ecosystem, the rollout transitions the vehicle from a highly anticipated design concept into a real-world reality on Indian roads. Positioned as a premium urban lifestyle offering rather than a traditional high-volume commuter, the Flying Flea C6 represents a calculated gamble by the Chennai-based bikemaker to capture the premium electric two-wheeler market.
To ensure a seamless transition for its early adopters, Royal Enfield has established a dedicated hub-and-spoke service infrastructure specifically tailored to the unique requirements of the electric powertrain. A central service hub located in BTM Layout, Bengaluru, is fully equipped to handle complex electrical diagnostics, battery management systems, and specialized technical repairs. Supplementing this flagship facility, a network of smaller satellite "spoke" centers has been distributed across the city to manage routine maintenance, alongside integrated "shop-in-shop" touchpoints within existing Royal Enfield dealerships to offer 24x7 roadside assistance.
True to Royal Enfield’s design philosophy, the Flying Flea C6 seamlessly fuses 1940s wartime heritage with modern engineering. Taking inspiration from the original lightweight WD/RE "Flying Flea" used by British paratroopers during World War II, the new machine boasts a distinctly retro silhouette characterized by a striking forged aluminum girder fork setup—a structural design rarity in contemporary motorcycling. This vintage architectural visual is counterbalanced by a lightweight chassis featuring magnesium-encased battery housing, keeping the motorcycle’s total kerb weight down to an exceptionally nimble 124 kg.
Beneath its classic exterior lies a highly responsive electric powertrain engineered for modern urban navigation. The C6 is powered by a 3.91 kWh lithium-ion battery pack paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor that delivers 20.65 bhp (15.4 kW) and 60 Nm of peak motor torque. This combination allows the motorcycle to accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in a swift 3.7 seconds, eventually hitting a claimed top speed of 115 kmph, making it uniquely suited for both dense city traffic and short highway bursts.
In terms of real-world usability and charging infrastructure compatibility, the Flying Flea C6 claims an Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) certified riding range of up to 154 km on a single charge. Replenishing the battery pack is highly optimized for urban routines; when plugged into a standard 16A domestic socket, a fast top-up from 20% to 80% takes just 1 hour and 5 minutes, while a complete 0% to 100% charge is achieved in approximately 2 hours and 16 minutes. Riders can also customize and throttle their preferred charging speeds directly through a companion smartphone application.
The technological suite equipped on the C6 firmly spaces it in the premium tier of connected mobility. Acting as the motorcycle's command center is a round 3.5-inch full-color TFT touchscreen display that features integrated Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 4G connectivity alongside turn-by-turn navigation. On the safety front, the electric motorcycle leaves no stone unturned, offering first-in-class lean-sensitive dual-channel ABS, cornering traction control, five distinct riding modes (City, Rain, Highway, Sport, and Custom), adjustable regenerative braking, and over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
Available in signature Storm Black and Flea Green color schemes, the Flying Flea C6 carries an outright ex-showroom price tag of ₹2.79 lakh. However, to lower the barrier of entry, Royal Enfield is also offering an innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, which slashes the upfront acquisition cost to an attractive ₹1.99 lakh (ex-showroom) while separating the battery cost into a subscription plan. Following this initial launch in India's EV capital of Bengaluru, Royal Enfield plans to initiate a phased, city-by-city rollout strategy, progressively expanding retail operations and deliveries to other major metropolitan areas over the coming months.
