The smartphone camera landscape is preparing for another massive shift as fresh leaks reveal the highly anticipated Vivo X500 series. Known for its aggressive imaging innovation, Vivo's upcoming lineup is making headlines ahead of its expected launch. Renowned tipster Digital Chat Station has taken to Weibo to outline the camera blueprint for the standard Vivo X500, shedding light on what could be the definitive camera phone series of the year.
At the center of the recent leak is an engineering prototype of the standard Vivo X500. The base handset is tipped to feature a powerful triple rear camera array that promises to close the gap between standard models and high-end ultra flagships. The headline feature for the vanilla version is a 64-megapixel Sony periscope telephoto camera utilizing a 1/2-inch sensor with a 70mm equivalent focal length. This periscope addition means standard buyers will no longer have to compromise on optical zoom capabilities.
Supporting the massive 64-megapixel telephoto shooter is an equally impressive primary lens. The main sensor is rumored to be a 50-megapixel Sony camera featuring a substantial 1/1.28-inch sensor size. This large sensor architecture is designed to optimize light sensitivity and improve dynamic range, making it a low-light powerhouse. To round out the flexible array, Vivo is reportedly pairing these with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera to cover expansive landscapes and macro capabilities.
Interestingly, the leak hints at a diversified strategy across the entire X500 ecosystem. While the base X500 utilizes the 64-megapixel periscope, its premium siblings are aiming for entirely different territory. Rumors suggest that the high-end Vivo X500 Pro Max will step up to a groundbreaking 200-megapixel periscope sensor. Meanwhile, the premium variants are expected to utilize LOFIC (Long Overflow Integration Capacitor) sensor technology to capture pristine highlight details in high-contrast outdoor scenes.
Beyond the raw camera metrics, the core internal hardware for the standard variant has also leaked. Unlike the Pro variants which are rumored to carry next-generation 2nm architecture, the vanilla Vivo X500 is tipped to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9500-series processor. This strategic hardware choice ensures that the base model stays highly competitive and more accessible, positioning it as a value-driven flagship for photography enthusiasts.
The rest of the device's blueprint doesn't disappoint either. Up front, the Vivo X500 is expected to showcase a beautiful 6.59-inch OLED display boasting a sharp 1.5K resolution. What is truly turning heads, however, is the battery capacity. Moving far beyond previous generations, the device is rumored to pack a massive 7,500mAh battery, ensuring that intensive mobile photography sessions won't drain your phone before midday.
As it stands, Vivo has yet to officially confirm any of these specifications, leaving tech fans anxiously waiting. Industry reports suggest that the entire line—expected to consist of the X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max—is on track to debut in China around September. If these early engineering leaks hold true, Vivo is about to lay down a serious challenge to rival mobile manufacturers.
